Often times being deployed in the military is a huge sacrifice, in more ways than one. Not only do our military personnel put their lives on the line but of course, sacrifice time away from their families as well. With this comes missed time with a spouse & kids and for some, this also means missed births. However one wife was determined for her husband to receive the warmest welcome back home no matter what. Marine Marc Wynthes who received orders to serve six months overseas, was initially deployed when his wife Katrina was three months pregnant. By the time he was on his way home, he was in for quite a surprise. While on the plane, he received a text from his wife saying, “I think you better hurry!” She also sent a picture of an app she’d used to time her contractions.
He knew that meant their baby was on the way and he wasn’t sure if he would make it to his family in time. However, Katrina knew she didn’t want her husband to miss a second of their baby’s birth. “I was determined to be there to pick him up,” she said. “So, I just prayed my heart out, and begged baby girl to wait for her daddy.” When he finally landed he ran over to his family as fast as he could. He hugged them tight and kissed them but knew he had to get his wife to the hospital fast, “Okay, let’s go! Let’s go!” They made it to the hospital safely where they welcomed their healthy, beautiful baby girl. Although it was quite a journey, Marc is thankful to have made it home safely and that he, his wife, and his oldest daughter, could all welcome the new addition together as a family.
