The jealous husband, 26-year-old Dmitri Grachev, cut off his wife's arms after accusing her of cheating.
Doctors managed to rescue one of the hands of this unfortunate woman during the emergency surgery. But the other failed to reconnect.
Dmitri took his wife Margarita (mother of two children) to the forest and slammed her with his ax on her fingers in order to confess the affair. The woman denied the charges, and the jealous man crossed on the other hand and continued hitting her. Then Dmitri took Margarita to the hospital, and later he surrendered himself to the police.
The doctors operated Margarita for nine hours, and the operation was too complex, but they managed to save one hand. The right hand was too damaged, and the surgeon who operated it said he was shocked by the injuries he had seen, and that a normal person could not do it. Dmitry Grachev will remain in custody until the investigation for the whole case is completed.
The couple was married for five years and had two children, at the age three and four. Before attacking his wife, he asked her to be tested on a polygraph. She agreed, but he nevertheless attacked her.
Friends described the couple as close and in love. Margarita's colleague said that she was very open, but she never said that something was wrong with her marriage. Other friends said that she was preparing to leave her husband.
Margarita in the past, had also called the police for the behavior of her husband, but they then only talked to him, a report says. Then he threatened his wife that she would kill her.
