Affidavit: San Antonio teacher accused of having sex with 16-year-old student

A San Antonio high school teacher was arrested on sexual assault of a child charges after his student told police they had allegedly been in an 8-month relationship.

The victim told police she was 16 years old when she began a sexual relationship with her teacher and coach, 44-year-old Jose Eduardo Hernandez, an arrest affidavit said. The document didn't clarify where Hernandez was employed.

Between Jan. 2019 and Sept. 2019, Hernandez would have the victim skip class and then drive her to a local motel where they would have sex, the affidavit said. The two engaged in "approximately 20 sexual encounters," and Hernandez would take photos and video of the sex acts, the affidavit continued.

She didn't come forward to police about the relationship until Jan. 10, 2020.

The victim provided police with texts, photos and videos of the sex acts that Hernandez sent her through the social media site Snapchat, the affidavit said. She said that he kept photos and videos of their relations on his phone.

Hernandez was arrested Wednesday on charges of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student. He is being held on a $80,000 bond for both charges.
