Church of England chooses Princess Diana as best mum over Jesus’ mother.

Members were asked to pick “the ideal mother” among a list of well-known mothers, Telegraph reports, ahead of mother’s day on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

Princess Diana beats Jesus’ mother

Surprisingly, the late Princess Diana took the number one spot while “my own mother” was the second-most popular choice.

The third position went to Mother Theresa, Queen Elizabeth took the fourth spot followed by Michelle Obama in the fifth position.

Fictional character Molly Weasley from the Harry Potter novels took sixth place, followed by fictional nanny Mary Poppins and Mary, the mother of Jesus, in eighth place.

Members were also asked, “What is or was the most important thing your mother has ever done for you?”

She ‘was always there to support me when I needed her’ was chosen by one in three respondents while one in five (18 percent) went for the ‘teaching them the right thing’ option.

One in 10 (11 percent) said that she had shown them the value of hard work.

Reacting to the results, Rev Dr. Sandra Millar, head of life events at the Church of England, said: “It’s great to hear that people appreciate mums way beyond stereotypes of cooking and cleaning.

“Being there for you, teaching and modeling good values and working hard are qualities that inspire and shape lives.

“The Church of England will be celebrating all these qualities this weekend with thousands of families across the country in schools, communities, and churches.”

The online survey was conducted by the church and carried out by ComRes on 2,015 adults from March 2 to 4,2018.
