The Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee, Front Range Community College's Longmont campus and Boulder County's Human Resources Division are being recognized with this year's round of Boulder County Public Health's Healthy Community Awards.

Lafayette's Youth Advisory Committee “played a key role in amplifying the voice of local teens in community discussions on substance abuse prevention and encouraging teen peers to lead heathy lifestyles,” Boulder County Public Health officials said.

Front Range Community College's Longmont campus is being honored for implementing a tobacco-free policy that protects the health of that campus' more than 5,000 students, staff and visitors, according to the county health department.

Boulder County government's Human Resources Division is being recognized for policies such as encouraging breast-feeding at county buildings and making lactation spaces available for working mothers. The division also has championed extended paid parental leave and guidelines for county employees wanting to bring their infants to work.

Boulder County Public Health is to present the awards April 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at a ceremony at the St. Vrain Community Hub, 515 Coffman St., Longmont.
