Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).

We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.

• Badgers have been racking up player of the week awards this week, and the women’s soccer team didn’t want to be left out of the fun.

Joe Rudolph says converted tight end Cormac Sampson has earned the nickname "Professor Smackdaddy." That's got to be an all-time favorite.

• The Madison.com preview of the men’s hockey team/season is being updated all week and so far it is very useful and informative. There is a breakdown of every player on the team and an update on Tony Granato and K’Andre Miller.
• Imagine if this happened at Penn State. That one racist fan who writes letters would probably pen an entire novel about how back in his day the only dancing that was done was by his friends when the soda fountain re-segregated.

So Elijah Collins, Anthony Williams and Brandon Wright are the three scholarship running backs on the roster. Walk-on Alante Thomas has gotten some action in mop-up duty. Former RB Weston Bridges moved to WR after spring ball. Wonder if he’ll move back.
