This little jackal realised it had bit off far more than he could ever chew when it squared off against an ostrich.The brave predator had attempted to intimidate the eight foot-tall bird in the Kgalagadi National Park, in the Kalahari Desert, South Africa.
However, with a male ostrich weighing in at around 250lbs, and the diminutive jackal tipping the scales at just 30lbs, it soon realised that the bird might prove a tricky meal.And so when the ostrich began puffing out its feathers, the jackal thought better of it and ran off.
The five-minute encounter was captured on camera by Sylvie Failletaz, 46, a tourist visiting the national park from Switzerland.
