HOUSTON (CBSDFW.COM) — A Houston police officer has died after being shot by a suspect Saturday night, officials said.
Around 6 p.m. Saturday, the Houston Police Department said in a series of tweets that it wasn’t known what led to the shooting on the city’s end.
Police Chief Art Acevedo then tweeted and requested people to “please pray” for the officer.

The officer — who has not been identified — was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The suspect is currently in custody.
