When you’re a kid, getting called into the principal’s office is never a good feeling. All of your classmates stare at you, and you run through a list of every potential thing that couldn’t have gotten you in trouble. If you’re a parent, receiving a call from the principal’s office about your kid is enough to ruin your day. For those of us who have either sat across from the principal or got that dreaded call (or both!), you know exactly what we mean.
For one student named Rylee, his meeting in the principal’s office was anything but typical. Rylee was informed that he had to head to the principal’s office while in class. As he waited outside the door, he tried to think of what could have possibly landed him in such a predicament. Then the door opened, and he saw both his parents inside!
It turns out, his parents had planned the entire thing. “He’s probably thinking, ‘what did I do wrong?’” Rylee’s mom laughs as she waits behind the closed door. The reason his parents were there was to give Rylee some very important news, and luckily, they filmed the whole thing!
Rylee’s dad opens the door to let the young boy in, and it’s clear from the look on his face that he has no idea what’s going on.
“Where are we going?” he asks his parents.
“Well, what do you think about having some brothers and sisters?” Rylee’s dad responds.
“That would be great.” Rylee says.
“Maybe 4 brothers and 1 sister?” Rylee’s dad suggests. At this point, Rylee looks even more confused. What are his parents talking about?
“Guess what?” Rylee’s mom says next. “You’re gonna be a big brother!”
The look on Rylee’s face upon hearing that news is downright priceless. Apparently, Rylee’s parents had been in the process of fostering, and wanted to adopt 5 new siblings for their son. As soon as the paperwork came through, they knew they had to come up with a creative way to deliver the news to Rylee.
The young boy could not be happier to find out he is going to have brothers and a sister. He begins to cry tears of joy as he hugs his mother and thanks her.
“I gotta go tell my classmates!” he realizes, obviously thrilled to share the exciting announcement with his friends.
The most heartwarming moment of the video is when Rylee says that he “won’t be lonely again.” It is clear that this family was desperate for more children, and Rylee longed for siblings to play with and talk to. Now that their dreams are coming true, it’s so great to see them all together sharing such happy news.
Rylee heads back to class with a smile, noticeably happier now that he knows he’s not in trouble and that he has 5 new siblings coming soon! “This is the best day of my life!” he cheers before he runs down the hall.
