Filmmaker, writer, fine artist, and illustrator, born in New Jersey, schooled in New York City, trained in London, England, and working in Hollywood since 1982.
As a professional artist, I am an Illustrator and Graphic Designer, and was a successful Madison Avenue Art Director for the J. Walter Thompson Ad Agency for ten years. I created the Marriott Hotels corporate logo, still in use today, and my works have appeared on numerous book jackets for major publishers, record album and CD covers, and in such periodicals as Rolling Stone Magazine, Esquire, Playboy, New Yorker, Village Voice, Field & Stream, TV Guide, and Reader’s Digest. One of my paintings was on exhibit for twenty years at the Smithsonian Institute’s Aerospace Division in Washington, DC. My works have been exhibited in galleries throughout Manhattan, London, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. While residing in London for five years in the early 70’s, I was an audio/visual artist and worked with Terry Gilliam on the now classic BBC television series, “Monty Python’s Flying Circus.” I have also designed stage sets for numerous Off-Broadway theatrical productions, as well as art directed and designed title treatments, created original illustrations, and promotional posters for numerous feature films, such as “Taps,” “Tess,” “Blow Up,” “Flashpoint,” “The Horror Star,” “Dressed to Kill,” “St. Helens, Killer Volcano,” “The Breakfast Club,” “Karate Kid III,” and “Splash.”
For television, I have directed for PBS, HBO, Showtime, VH-1, BBC, CMT, Disney, Bravo, A&E, CBS, and MTV, creating network TV pilots, independent feature films, documentaries, national television commercials, and hundreds of music videos for major artists like, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Alan Jackson, The Pointer Sisters, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Donovan, Marc Anthony, Alison Krauss & Union Station, The Cars, LL Cool J, The Little River Band, Eddie Murphy, The Commodores, The Beastie Boys, Jeffrey Osborne, and Linkin Park.
My live concert specials for PBS include such artists as, Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys), Marc Anthony, Diahann Carroll, an all-star concert with Denny Laine (The Moody Blues & Paul McCartney’s Wings), Randy Miesner (The Eagles), Spencer Davis, Steppenwolf, Toto, and The Knack. In 2016-2018, I produced/directed, and art directed the 2-hour specials, “The Kingston Trio Celebration” featuring Al Jardine (The Beach Boys), Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles), Barry McGuire (New Christy Minstrels), Shari Belafonte, The Limeliters, Trini Lopez, and the last historic performance of Bob Shane (founder of original Trio), airing through 2019. And I art directed, set designed, and helmed 2017’s “The Kingston Trio Holiday Cheers” concert, now to be an annual holiday program.
For HBO and BBC, I helmed The Irish Tenors and The Texas Tenors, and for Showtime, Paul Simon’s “Graceland Concert” in Africa, The Rolling Stones/Steel Wheels Tour at NY’s Madison Square Garden, a Motown special with The Commodores, and for CMT, bluegrass banjo legend, the late Earl Scruggs’ final concert in Nashville.
