Could Gears 5 Be on the Way?
There’s apparently going to be a big “exclusive” Gears of War announcement that’ll be happening later this week, according to rap legend Ice T, who voiced a character in 2011’s Gears of War 3.
It’s not immediately obvious what type of Gears of War announcement Ice T claims will be coming this week but one could reasonably speculate that’ll be an announcement or teaser for a new Gears game. The last game, Gears of War 4, came out in 2016 to pretty solid reviews and it’s been two years since we’ve had a Gears game so a new one could definitely be in the works.
Earlier this year, we reported that Gears developer, The Coalition Studio, was possibly working on a new IP with StoryLab Productions, a company that helped The Coalition develop Gears of War 4.
However, Microsoft explicitly denied that this was happening in a terse statement about the rumored project. “The Coalition is exclusively focused on Gears of War,” a Microsoft representative said.
We’ve contacted The Coalition for comment on Ice T’s tweet and will update the story if they get back to us.
