Notre Dame is wearing some interesting Yankees-themed uniforms for Saturday’s contest against Syracuse, but it looks like the city of New York found a way to celebrate the school’s actual color scheme.
Friday night, the Empire State Building was lit up blue and gold to celebrate the Irish. It’s obviously in reference to Saturday’s game, but it’s also apparently in honor of the Irish immigrants who landed in New York City.
Notre Dame and Syracuse will play at Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon – and it’s a big one.
Notre Dame is 10-0 in need of just two more wins to make its first College Football Playoff. Syracuse, meanwhile, is 8-2 in the midst of its best season this century.

This isn’t the first time the Empire State Building has been lit up in honor of sports teams – it’s actually very common these days.
Notre Dame and Syracuse are set to tangle at 2:30 PM ET. It should be a good one.
