One of the best young running backs in college football might be in some legal trouble. According to a recent report from KU Sports.com, Kansas running back Pooka Williams was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of domestic battery.
According to the report, Kansas police arrested Williams – listed as Anthony Ray Williams – at the KU Public Safety Office Thursday afternoon. No bond has been set at this time.
Details on the alleged incident remain mum.
New head coach Les Miles released a statement on this incident.
“We are aware of a reported incident involving Pooka Williams and we are taking these allegations very seriously. We have suspended Pooka from all team-related activities pending further investigation.”
Williams was one of the top running back recruits coming out of high school. However his small stature led to limited offers from big name programs.
As a freshman this season, Williams rushed for 1,125 yards and seven touchdowns on just 161 carries.
We’ll have more as this situation develops.
