2019 Big 12 Wrestling Championships: Preview, schedule, brackets and more

Cowboys Ride For Free

Oklahoma State seeks its seventh straight title.

The Oklahoma State wrestling team begins its postseason this weekend with the Big 12 Wrestling Championships at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Cowboys went 15-0 during the regular-season for their first undefeated season since 2005. OSU received six No. 1 seeds earlier in the week during the pre-seeded drawings.

Head coach John Smith opted to have Jacobe Smith and Dakota Geer be OSU’s 174- and 184-pound wrestlers, which resulted in a wrestle-off at 165 pounds between Joe Smith and Chandler Rogers. Joe Smith, who earned All-American honors at 157 in 2016 and 2017, won the best-of-three series 2-0 to take the spot. Joe Smith received the No. 8 seed after the change.

The pre-seeds were voted into their positions by the conference’s 12 head coaches and are subject to change. The final seeds will be confirmed during a pre-tournament coaches meeting Friday.

Here’s OSU’s lineup:

125: Nick Piccininni (No. 1)

133: Daton Fix (No. 1)
