The Cowboys head coach adds another hall of fame honor to his resume.

John Smith will add another hall of fame honor to his resume as the Oklahoma Hall of Fame will name him to their 2020 class Thursday.

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame released a “sneak peak” Friday on social media with a silhouette of Smith, who will be the first wrestler as part of the hall of fame since its inception in 1928. The official announcement will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday on the hall of fame’s Facebook page.

Smith went 154-7-2 with two NCAA individual championships and one runner-up finish at Oklahoma State before winning six consecutive World titles (two Olympic, four World Championship). He won his fourth World title and second Olympic gold during his first two seasons as OSU’s head wrestling coach.

With Smith at the helm, the Cowboys have won five NCAA team titles — including four straight from 2003-06 — and finished second five times.
