35,000-square-foot Indie Studios will aim to lure tech talent to Armour-Ottley Loop

The evolution of what’s being called the Armour-Ottley Loop—or “the Loop,” for short—is continuing with a project designed to bolster Atlanta’s growing design economy.

Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate, the team behind Sweet Auburn’s Constellations shared workspace, announced Tuesday that its newest “cultural development” will be called Indie Studios.

Totaling 35,000 square feet, the studios venture is set to open next spring on Ottley Drive, across the street from SweetWater Brewery, officials said. Pre-leasing has begun.

Beyond the brewery, Indie Studios will join American Spirit Works, Atlanta Track Club, East Pole Coffee, Fox Brothers’s “Que”-osk, Coyote Logistics, CineMassive, and other recent additions to the district.

Plans call for the area to be linked in coming years to the Atlanta Beltline and Buckhead’s PATH400 Trail.

In transforming former midcentury warehouses, Indie Studios will offer 12 spaces that accommodate between eight and 20 people each, plus the tech-driven “Studio X” for software developers, with individual desks and hubs with lab space, project leaders said.

Planned interiors.

The expected onsite amenities were described as follows:

“...a library with full-height video walls, a chill living room, “cultural conference rooms,” a full-service café, plenty of thoughtfully designed community space, porches and patios for indoor/outdoor enjoyment, 150 linear feet of front garden, plus tiny and delicious cinnamon rolls served each afternoon with complimentary coffee.”

Beyond software gurus, leasing teams will aim to lure game designers, architects, engineers, interior designers, animators, tech firms, and production houses, among other professions.

It’s 2040. Is the Beltline linked to the Armour-Ottley Loop yet?

Looks great but I hope that ivy wall will be real and not that plastic ivy shit .

Pretty stoked about getting hammered at sweetwater and swinging by indie to pound out some fire ass code with my team.

YAS more of this please. This looks so good. Love it. LA vibes all day long. And turning a car centric parking spaces to lounge spaces, hell ya.

That "Map" is stupid because isn’t this technically in Buckhead, as is the Tara Theatre? So what is "5" miles away?

Like the vibe here. Looking forward to the PATH400 finally connecting Lenox to the Sidney Marcus branch and then this to that. Should be interesting.

The entire, armour/ottley area only has one access point.. and that is:

1) embarrassing

2) a problem
