More of the latest Browns news and notes from around the web in today’s dose of the Sunday Dawg Chow.
Cleveland Browns:
- Browns willing to let Joe Schobert leave in free agency (cleveland.com) - The Browns have made little effort to extend Pro Bowl linebacker Joe Schobert and are willing to let him walk in free agency, a league source told cleveland.com.
- - Baker Mayfield informed reporters they had the wrong guy. As the Browns quarterback was bombarded Wednesday with questions about facing Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, Mayfield identified the opponent on the forefront of his mind.
- - Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly wants out of Cleveland, but could his next destination be a place that he already once called home? Before Thursday’s kickoff between the Jets and Ravens, SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano reported that Beckham is ‘not afraid of a return to New York,’ according to someone familiar with the wide receiver.
- 9 questions for Larry Ogunjobi (clevelandbrowns.com) - Larry Ogunjobi’s focus is centered on the present, but he can’t help but be excited by the future of the Browns defense. The Browns defensive line is a shell of what it was at the start of the season, but the unit has continued to deliver enough pressure to keep opposing offenses honest. That kind of performance, coupled with the return of some of those missing players, has Ogunjobi excited for what’s in store in 2020 and beyond.
NFL:
- Drew Brees, Michael Thomas chasing Colts’ NFL records (NFL.com) - Drew Brees and the Saints are searching for another Super Bowl title. Along that path to glory, there will be a bit of history relived and potentially more made.
- - Terrell Suggs, released by the Cardinals on Friday and eligible to be claimed on waivers Monday at 4 p.m. ET, will strongly consider not reporting if a team other than the Baltimore Ravens claims him, league sources say.
- As the Raiders Exit Oakland, Las Vegas and a $2 Billion Stadium Await (New York Times) - Fans are already starting to see the shift of Raider Nation from California to southern Nevada. Can the team really boost the economy in a city built around tourism?
- Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters fined for celebratory beer in win vs. Bills (Baltimore Sun) - Stadium beers aren’t cheap. Marcus Peters’ wasn’t, either. The NFL fined the Ravens cornerback $14,037 for drinking a beer after helping to clinch a Week 14 win over the Buffalo Bills.
