1. Supa Ya Ramen
2. Seb Myers @ P Franco
107 Lower Clapton Rd, Lower Clapton
London E5 0NP, UK
020 8533 4660; until 21 May
Former Clove Club chef Túbo Logier put his stamp on east London’s award-winning and category-defying wine bar-restaurant P. Franco with meticulous, complex dishes leavened by a sense of fun and whimsy. Now Seb Myers — previously of Nuno Mendes’ Viajante and Chiltern Firehouse, and fresh from a stint at the celebrated Auberge de Chassignolles — will bring the bountiful, French country-style cooking of so many of the bar’s favourite vineyards to east London.
3. Four Legs @ The Compton Arms
4 Compton Ave
London N1 2XD, UK
Ed McIlroy and Jamie Allan have made a blistering start to their residency at this Arsenal fans’ haven — the kind to make Unai Emery and his charges shrink. A Dexter beef cheeseburger is one of the city’s finest, plates small and large deliver satisfying food before fuss, and a new Sunday roast pairs a whole chicken with salsa verde, fries, and aioli like any sensible person should. They just can’t stop scoring goals.
4. Emile
26 Curtain Rd, Shoreditch
London EC2A 3NY, UK
Six month residency to April 2020
Cranes and glass and concrete loom over tiny Emile, newly installed on Curtain Road by chef Damian Clisby and publican Nick Gibson. Installed, for this is a residency in a previously cursed site, but a menu of pappardelle with chanterelles, pollock with bouillabaisse, and a dictionary-thick pork chop with cavolo nero, capers, and sage served on heavy-set wooden tables does the work to feel like a home from home between the creeping skyscrapers.
5. Liu Xiaomian @ The Jackalope
43 Weymouth Mews, Marylebone
London W1G 7EQ, UK
12p.m. — 2p.m., 6p.m. — 9p.m., Wednesday — Friday
A pared-back menu of Chongqing noodles, based on the heat and numbing qualities of chilli, ginger, garlic and Sichuan peppercorns, served with either minced pork, minced pork with chickpeas, beef, or vegetables. A quality addition to Marylebone’s dining options.
6. Peppeckish
32 Kitto Rd
London SE14 5TW, UK
Wednesdays only
Guiseppe Comino is cooking some of the best Italian food in London, and it’s only available on Wednesdays, on the top of Telegraph Hill. The menu changes weekly, but expect crumbly, deeply savoury salumi, ricotta made by Kappacasein dairy, and an entirely of-the-moment, bitter radicchio risotto. And that’s just this week.
7. Fodder @ The Shrub and Shutter
336 Coldharbour Ln, Brixton
London SW9 8QH, UK
9 October onwards
The seasonal and sustainable pop-up and supper-club Fodder will bring a six-month residency to The Shrub and Shutter, a cocktail bar and restaurant in Brixton from next month onwards. Led by head chef Michael Thompson, an alumnus of Fera, the pop-up will bring bites and sharing plates alongside drinks.
8. Hideaway at Chelsea Barracks
Chelsea Barracks, 1 Garrison Square, Belgravia
London SW1W 8BG, UK
9a.m. — 5p.m., Weekdays; 10a.m. — 5p.m., Saturday and Sunday
One of the most exciting talents in British cooking, Ollie Dabbous is back with a rustic pop up that will serve an all-day menu serving speciality coffees and light bites such as smoked salmon with basil creme fraiche, cherry blossom kougelhopf, croque monsieur, and more.
Luke Findlay of Supa Ya Ramen will bring his Saturday night supper club to an undisclosed location — the address is revealed after booking — featuring one type of chicken-based ramen bowl with a katsuobushi dashi, miso tare, fudgy egg and a ginger-infused iberico pork fat oil. He will do four sittings a night, for six people at a time. To book, follow Supa Ya Ramen on Instagram and send Luke a message on a Monday.
