Reality television always has and always will face a particularly intense amount of scrutiny, much in the same way the professional wrestling does. Both attempt to portray larger-than-life personalities as being real and tangible in the world we live in. The difference is that pro wrestling dropped kayfabe a long time ago, while reality TV continues to insist it isn't scripted.
The most recent example of these protests came from 'Teen Mom 2' star Jenelle Evans. During a public Q&A session on instagram, the 26-year old mother of three was asked if she is "told what to do by producers." Evans replied, "No, they just ask us to talk about recent things that have gone on they missed."
In the same session, Evans revealed that she has no plans to have more kids, saying, "No, I think I'm finished! Lol." She also revealed she applied for 'Teen Mom 2' after seeing embattled 'Teen Mom' star Farrah Abraham in an episode of the original show. She was seven months pregnant at the time.
Evans might know better than most how real the show can get. Her husband, David Eason, was recently kicked off the show for making homophobic comments, and Evans herself was involved in a road rage incident where she pulled a gun out in front of her son.
