It's no secret that bodybuilding is full of individuals with body dysmorphia. Go to your local gym (not Planet Fitness), and you'll see at least one guy there who has pumped himself up with so many steroids that his shoulders look like two additional heads.
But there is a type of freak out there who goes well and beyond the limits of mere steroids, crossing the line between human and deformed balloon animal. These are the synthol freaks. What is synthol you ask? Synthol is a product that is sold as rubbing oil for bodybuilders, but the actual purpose is to inject it into your muscles to make them bloated and look bigger. Yes, these people are literally injecting oil into their muscles, making them the male equivalent of those Instagram "models" who inject all kinds of substances into their lips and buttocks, except in this case the fillers are injected into the arms, shoulders, chest, or even all throughout their bodies, transforming these men into human oil tanks.
Needless to say, injecting synthol into your body is incredibly dangerous, as it can cause abscesses, nerve damage, and infection. It is also completely ridiculous, as none of this makes you stronger or builds actual muscle.
Now that synthol has been explained, here are 5 synthol freaks who would make even the richest Saudi princes jealous of how much oil they have.
Greg Valentino
The OG synthol man, Greg Valentino was notorious for having the biggest arms in the world and was even featured in the documentary, Bigger, Stronger, Faster. Valentino was once a fairly "normal" bodybuilder who only did steroids, but eventually his need to become grotesquely huge led to one of the worst cases of synthol abuse. According to Valentino though, he continued to only use steroids and never injected synthol, which is like Michael Jackson saying that he had only one nose job. Sure Greg, we believe you.
Kirill Tereshin
This young Russian man has gained notoriety recently for the enlarged water balloons that he calls his biceps. They especially clash with the rest of his skinny, do-you-even-lift physique, making him the male equivalent of a 90 lb girl with triple F breast implants. What's unfortunate though is that his insane antics have gained him a bit of fame over in Russia, leading to TV appearances and quite the following online. Recently, he's taken to dyeing his hair and wearing clown make up as well, because also like a woman with beach balls for implants, no amount of attention is enough.
Arlindo de Souza
Although it is a mystery as to why, Brazil seems to be the world capital of synthol, with three of the synthol freaks on this list being Brazilian. It's hard to imagine what kind of mental disorder led this man to want to look like a human tumor, but if there's one thing that's true in this world, is that you can't make logical sense out of crazy.
Valdir Segato
When I first came across pictures of this crime against the human form, I thought it was a bad photoshop. He had injected so much synthol into his chest that he would make a prime Pamela Anderson jealous of his artificial chesticles. Unfortunately, a quick search on Youtube revealed that this synthol freak, along his oily boobies, were quite real. I can't even post a shirtless picture of him because it might get flagged as nudity. And yes, he's Brazilian.
Romario Dos Santos Alves
Last but not least and also failin... I mean hailing from Brazil, is Romario Dos Santos Alves. Alves had once expressed sadness over the fact that the children in his neighborhood call him a monster... but hey, if it walks and quacks like a duck.... Since injecting himself with an oil tanker worth of synthol, Alves has suffered numerous health problems. Shocking.
