Although ace comedian Kevin Hart has earlier hosted award events such as the BET Awards (2011) and MTV Video Music Awards (2012), he has not been able to fulfill one major dream until now; that is to host the Oscars.
It looks like the 39-year-old humor merchant has had his dream come true after it was made public on Tuesday that he will host the 91st Academy Awards in February 2019.
The news has been confirmed by The Academy, tweeting: ‘Welcome to the family, @kevinhart4real.’
The father-of-three also took to his Instagram page to share the good news with fans.
In an emotion laden post, Hart wrote: '’for years I have been asked if I would ever host the Oscars and my answer was always the same. I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it's suppose to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time. To be able to join the legendary list of hosts that have graced that stage is unbelievable’.
He added, ‘I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one.’
Bob Hope, Jimmy Kimmel, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, and Johnny Carson are among the greats that have taken on same role in the past.
