Mets of Jose Bautista Traded to Phillies Jose Bautista is headed to his third National League East team of 2018. The New York Mets traded Bautista to the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash. With three-time All-Star Jay Bruce returning from the disabled list this past weekend and Brandon Nimmo set to be activated on Tuesday, Bautista became expendable. The six-time All-Star was subsequently signed by the Mets, who were in need of right-handed power with Cespedes and two-time All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier on the DL. The Phillies acquired infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from the Mets in exchange for minor league right-hander Franklyn Kilome ahead of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.
