Bud Foster should be in the Hall of Fame | John Schneider SB Nation
We haven’t gotten to this, of late. Carolina was a no picture day from the Press Box, so what a great day to get a chance to get back down on the field and take some pictures; 3409 to be exact. Here are some of the really good ones.
There were some really great images for this particular game. It was a contest dedicated to Coach Bud Foster, and his 33 years building and running the Lunch Pail Defense. For those of you who have come to Lane Stadium there are honor banners placed along the North End Zone side of the stadium, they have names like Frank Loria, Carroll Dale, Michael Vick, Frank Beamer, and now there is a special banner. It doesn’t have a number, just a graphic of an old beat up blue collar worker’s lunchbox, and the name of it’s creator, Bud Foster.

John Schneider - SB NationPressure was critical. Newman just didn’t have the time to think of much of anything, and his line was so collapsed and chopped up that he only had a couple of good opportunities the entire game. He did make what he could, but he didn’t have much to work with.
John Schneider - SB NationThe RPO Pop Pass that actually worked until Terius Wheatly forgot to cover up the ball near the end of the run, and got it hammered out. Wake’s defense was taking ball hammer shots all evening, and it took a bit of persuasion and then concentration for Tech to quit coughing up the ball.
John Schneider - SB NationKeshawn King is cornering. He had a good game on the outside.
John Schneider - SB NationJaveon Becton was also eating the Right Tackle’s dinner when he was in. Newman gets buried again.
John Schneider - SB NationDamon Hazelton had a solid game. There won’t be tons of kudos but his presence on game day is a serious difference maker in any game. He made the difference several times on Saturday.
John Schneider - SB NationJarrod Hewitt got in the QB sack business, too.
John Schneider - SB NationBig Man Pick-Off
Starts with heavy pressure by TyJuan Garbutt who was absolutely eating up the right tackle all evening.
John Schneider - SB NationDashawn Crawford drops back into coverage. The zone blitzes are completely flummoxing Wake Forest’s Jamie Newman for almost the entire game.
John Schneider - SB NationOh is this going to be a Big Man Touchdown?
John Schneider - SB NationSee what it ‘s like to try to cover Hazelton with a camera. He’s gone by you in a flash.
John Schneider - SB NationSometimes you just want to study what’s going on in the scrum.
John Schneider - SB NationReggie Floyd gets a hammering breakup with a nice clean open field tackle.
John Schneider - SB NationTyJuan Garbutt just really wanted to make Jamie Newman’s day a bad one. This was the tip and disrupted pass that Dax picked off and sealed the game.
John Schneider - SB NationAnd this is the Hendon Hooker Express that scored the capping touchdown.
John Schneider - SB NationAnd the Hokie Bird grinding for 36 pushups.
John Schneider - SB NationAnd Bud being carried off the sidelines on to the field to celebrate after the solid win.
John Schneider - SB NationMore about the game over the next day and a half, but starting Thursday it’s all about Georgia Tech and the need for some serious vengeance.
