Fans are still mourning the tragic death of David Bowie. The final years of his extremely private life and his innovative career are being featured in a new HBO documentary called David Bowie: The Last Five Years. The film doesn’t premiere until Jan. 8, what would’ve been David’s 71st birthday.
The Last Five Years focuses on Bowie’s final two albums, The Next Day and Blackstar, along with his stage musical Lazarus, Rolling Stone reports. The doc shows the legendary musician still recording and writing music despite being diagnosed with cancer. The deeply personal footage also shows rare photos and interviews during the final moments of his life.
