Olympic figure skater Meagan Duhamel pretty much has it all. The gold medalist is one of the best skaters in the world, happily married, and a loving dog mom — but even she has her off mornings. This time, it just happened to be right before her big day.
Meagan and her skating partner Eric Radford took home the bronze for Canada on February 15, 2018. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing to get there, as the figure skater shared on Twitter on February 13. In fact, Meagan had a fairly disastrous morning before heading to the rink.
On Tuesday, Meagan told her 19,000 Twitter followers:
I’m heading to the rink to compete at the #olympics and I just dropped my phone into a non-flushed toilet bowl. That’s right. No better way to humble me before the biggest skate of my life.
Less than half an hour later, Megan found herself taking to Twitter again. This time, she told her followers:
Update: the hanger carrying my dress broke from the wind. And I was stepping into the wrong bus but Bruno Massot saved me from going to the wrong venue. Haha! Ok! Im ready to nail this short!
And, of course, she did. But Meagan’s funny tweets about her disastrous morning actually serve as an important reminder that even the greatest, most impressive people have off mornings sometimes — and still go on to win medals. If anything, Meagan’s tweets should show us not to let a bad day stop us from doing great things.
