Wildcats (big cats) have developed the ability to blend into their surroundings. It is a matter of survival. If your prey sees you coming, you have no chance of catching it! Being able to hide in plain sight can also help you avoid predators. Those of us who have a domesticated cat will agree that our cats can hide and be very ninja-like on occasion!
Hiding indoors is a little more challenging than hiding outside, though! Unless you have a calico couch, or a black and white carpet, your indoor kitty has limited options for hiding in plain sight. Their best bet is to hide under the sofa, under the bed covers, or even way up on the top of the refrigerator!
You have probably heard of the “Where’s Waldo?” books. A man named Waldo, wearing a red and white striped shirt is hidden in a picture, and your job is to find him – sounds easy enough, right? Well, sometimes that guy is really well hidden. Hidden in plain sight.
Today we are going to try something a little different! We are going to play “Where is the kitty?” You get a chance to look at all nine of the pictures first, then we will show you where those clever cats are in each image! Look carefully – can you find them?
1. Woodpile – look high, look low, where is that cat?
2. There is a kitty hiding in this field, we promise!
3. Peek-a-boo the kitty sees you! But do you see the clever kitty? We have to admit, this one is a little easier than the first two!
4. Hard to believe that a cat could hide in all that low cut, scraggly grass – but he is in there… somewhere!
5. Even in this pile of junk, a cat is – wait for it – purrfectly hidden! Want a hint, the cat is on the left side of this picture!
6. This cat blended in quite well with this gnarly old tree!
7. Cat on the rocks (ba dum bum!) This kitty is looking right at you!
8. Here kitty, kitty! We have a nice can of tuna for you! Just let us see where you are!
9. This is no household tabby – a big cat is hiding in this picture!
