Let your family and friends know if you are looking for a certain item of furniture, as you'd be surprised at how many will actually have an old one sitting in their garage. More than likely they'd be happy for you to take it off their hands. You can keep the furniture as it is or funk it up with some upcycling.
Add Personality to Your Table
Have a piece of safety glass cut to your table's size. Then tuck photos, postcards, or printed fabric underneath. This is a great way to add color and character to a dull desk. And if you get bored while sitting at your desk, a good distraction is getting immersed in old pictures of family and friends.
Disguise What You Can't Replace
Cover a sofa, lay a rug over that stained carpet, or use fabric to screen an unpleasant view until you can afford to replace it. No one need know. The right throw or rug can add some oomph to the interiors.

Pick up some cheap photo frames from charity shops, the more mismatched the better, and spray paint them all the same color. Neon colors are very on trend at the moment. It will look like you've bought them from a luxury retailer when really it cost you pennies.

You'll be surprised what difference a coat of paint can do to charity shop treasures. Don't disregard old ornaments that look like they belong in your grandmother's home. Transform them with white or black paint to look stylish and modern. Animal figures work particularly well for this and are on trend this season.
