When We Saw This Dog Tied up and Abandoned at the Train Station We Knew We Needed to Help

When you hit bottom, you know it. There’s no denying it when life has knocked you lower than you ever have been down before. It happens to most of us at some point in our lives. And when it does, the only thing we can do is pick ourselves back up and turn our lives around. That’s how we make it up to ourselves and prove to those around us that we are capable of great things despite the life circumstances we have found ourselves facing.

While humans are capable of lifting themselves out of the hole life has thrust them down it, our furry friends and pets are not so lucky. They rely on the people around them to lift them back up and help them on a path to happiness and health. So when a dog was abandoned at Ayr train station in Scotland back on January 2, 2015, there was little hope that it would be able to rise again.

The dog was found abandoned with a pillow, a bowl of water, and some food. Everyone who passed by the dog saw that the animal was clearly abandoned. But no one knew what to do with him or how to respond to the situation.

Investigators arrived at the scene and sought out ways to find the dog’s previous owners. They wanted to know what kind of person would leave the dog at the Scottish station when they could have given him to an animal shelter where he could have been cared for by volunteers and animal lovers. But Inspector Stewart Taylor didn’t have much luck. The dog was not equipped with a microchip that was updated.

Inspector Taylor said, “The dog is microchipped, and we were able to find out his name is Kai. We contacted the owner registered to the microchip, who stated they had sold Kai on Gumtree in 2013. Unfortunately, they could not tell us the address of the person who bought him.”

Because there was no evidence trail, Kai could have switched owners several times since the one who had him in 2013. Instead of trying to figure out his chain of ownership, the investigators decided it would be better to focus on finding him a new home.

Although they were not giving up on finding the lowlife who abandoned the dog in the Scottish train station, Inspector Taylor didn’t have high hopes that it would lead to anything valuable.

“Regardless of the fact, Kai was left with his belongings, this was still a cruel incident, and we are keen to identify the person responsible. If anyone can help we would ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Because Kai was a unique dog, the investigators hoped the public could help identify him and describe his owners. So they released a statement asking the public for help.

“Kai is around two to three years old and is a lovely dog with a nice nature. We will look after him until we can find him a permanent and loving home.”

After a medical treatment, Kai was ready for adoption. Ian, a man who recently lost his Dalmatian, wanted him. And the two quickly hit it off and became soul mates.

We’re so glad this beautiful abandoned dog found a home and a happy ending!
