Police Brighten The Lives Of Crying Senior Couple With Homemade Spaghetti Dinner

Daily Dose of Fun

After getting a call about some loud crying, the police in Rome sprang into action. Neighbors called the police because they heard someone weeping in an apartment building – they thought someone was in trouble.

Turns out that two people were in trouble – not physical danger, but emotional danger. The crying was coming from the apartment of 85-year-old Jole and her husband, 94-year-old Michele.

The couple was crying at what was described as “incurable loneliness.” After the neighbors they had been close to had moved away, they hadn’t had any visitors in a long time.

The city around them was quiet because people regularly leave on vacations. Grim headlines on the news only added to their despair. The couple has been married for 70 years, and they broke down in tears together.

Luckily, someone heard their cries and called for help. Police officers, Andrea, Ernesto Alessandro, and Mirko whipped up a spaghetti dinner for Jole and Michele and then spent the evening chatting with them.

The much needed social interaction brightened the couples evening. The officers gave them Michele and Jolie a quick check-up to and found them both to be in good health.

Rome’s police department works hard to keep the city’s travelers, tourists and residents secure and safe. Not all of the calls they answer involve crime, like with Jolie and Michele, sometimes they just let people know someone cares.

The police department posted that the dinner prepared for Jolie and Michele wasn’t too special – just spaghetti with butter and cheese. But, the main ingredient was pure compassion!
