Hamlin, N.Y. (WHAM) - A homeowner in Hamlin is working to protect his home, as its deck is being swallowed by Lake Ontario.
The Davis family fears their home is next.
The family is getting ready to move. They say they have done everything they can to stop erosion, but mother nature is just too powerful.
Rick Davis says it's so painful to watch that his wife cannot even be home.
Just last week, Rick first expressed fear over what could come to be.
Erosion has slowly eaten away at his land, taking about ten feet of his property in a matter of days.
Now his home teeters on the edge of a cliff with a drastic drop in the water just below.
On Monday morning, a crew came out to start cutting off the deck, sparring his home for the meantime.
However, he says it's inevitable that his home is next to be washed away. For now, he says it's a waiting game.
"We'll be moving by probably Tuesday or Wednesday - getting out of here. We'll see what's left." said Davis. "What we've got now - I'm not sure what we're going to do."
Davis says they, along with many on the shore, are praying the winds and waves stay calm.
