FRESNO, Calif. - A fighter jet pilot from Naval Air Station Leemore is safe after they ejected from a F/A-18E during a routine flight operation in the Celebes Sea Friday morning.

A helicopter rescued the pilot after something went wrong as the fighter jet approached the U.S.S. Carl Vinson in the Western Pacific.

It is under investigation. The Department of Defense said it does not look like the pilot has any major injuries but is being checked out by the medical team.

At least 3 squadrons from Naval Air Station Lemoore are stationed there.
