SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. - Utility crews sprang into action after a bird hammered through a power pole in Snohomish County.

Workers replaced the pole the same day a customer called to report that a bird was "causing damage" to the pole.

Public Utility officials say damage was caused by a woodpecker. It's not clear how long the bird was working on the pole ... but we're guessing it was quite a while.

Some Twitter users seemed to doubt the veracity of the public utility district's explanation, however, with at least one user suggesting that it was the work of a flying beaver.
