El PASO, Texas (KFOX14) —

One of the women accused in the murder of Anthony Trejo pleaded guilty last week to tampering with evidence.

Elvira Maria Navarette was sentenced to 6 months in prison for her role in the death.

Navarette met with authorities in September, detailed Trejo’s beating and said she helped clean up a door, according to court documents.

Trejo was beaten until he was unconscious at a home in the Lower Valley, then taken to a mobile home on Alameda Avenue, where his body was wrapped in a cloth and later dismembered, authorities said.

Trejo’s remains were found in October in a desert area in northeast El Paso.

Nine people were charged in connection with the murder. Two of them, Steven Ramirez and Roberto Favela, pleaded guilty in February to lesser charges. Favela was sentenced to 30 years in prison for tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair and Ramirez was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to engaging in organized criminal activity. Ramirez’s two charges of tampering physical evidence with intent to impair were dropped.

The first of the defendants charged with murder goes on trial at the end of May.
