The much awaited moment for most new parents during pregnancy is the day they get to learn if they are having a boy or girl. That special ultrasound was met with heartbreak for one couple in Nottingham, England, but not for reasons of deformity or some other indicator of a troubled pregnancy.

The father-to-be had lost his own dad to a heart attack when he was just 7-years-old, the Daily Mail reported.

When Mark went with Kimberly Wootton for the 22-week sonogram, Mark was taken aback to see the likeness of his father’s face on his daughter’s skull, while reviewing the photos sometime after their daughter Amiyah was born. According to Mark, all the prominent facial features he longed to see the past 23 years were visible, including the eyes, nose, and even his dad’s distinctive mustache.
Until this isolated incident, Mark said he has never believed in “the supernatural,” but now he does since he was so sure of what he saw.

“It’s like my dad is my guardian angel watching over us,” Wright said. “I was only very young when my dad died which was hard to adjust to but I was absolutely shocked when I saw the image of his face in Amiyah’s scan,” he said.

“She ran straight upstairs to get a picture of my dad and when she showed me the two photos together I couldn’t believe it,” Wright described about the day the odd image was found. The couple have continued to show the oddity to friends and family, all of whom agree that Mark’s father’s face is on Amiyah’s skull in the sono.
Wotton said that while the resemblance was “a bit freaky,” it helped her boyfriend feel closer to his late father, a little piece that will always connect his daughter to her grandfather.
Whether it’s the minds eye forming an image the heart longs to see and others around Mark are placating him on the sensitive issue, one thing is for sure; now at around 2-years-old, Mark’s toddler bears a striking resemblance to his father. This is a real gift genetics have provided him to hopefully fill the gaping void of having lost a parent.
