Just over 10 years ago in the Yaroslavl region, not far from Moscow, neighbors heard a crying from an abandoned house. At first people ignored strange sounds, but after a week they decided to investigate the house.
Entering inside, people were horrified: they found a frightened one-year-old girl huddled in the corner of one of the rooms. Within a week the child was there alone, without food and water. And, if the villagers did not find her, she would surely have died.
A little girl named Liza Verbitskaya was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors diagnosed her with a hip fracture, severe exhaustion and dehydration.
Lisa had developmental problems associated with trauma received in infancy. She could not chew food, was very afraid of loud sounds, and slowly learned to walk.
After treatment in the hospital, the city authorities intended to identify Lisa in an orphanage, and then find her foster parents. However, in a hospital in Lisa, a woman named Inna Nika, who very much loved the child, drew attention.
Inna was in the hospital around the clock, taking care of her sick son. Once she heard a cry from the next house, looked in there and saw Lisa. Since that day Inna constantly visited the baby, bringing her clothes, food and toys.
Once, when Inna once again went to Lisa's room, the babies were not there. Soon, Inna learned that the girl was strong enough for discharge from the hospital, so she was taken to an orphanage. Inna already had two sons, and before that the woman had never thought about adopting. But on the day when Lisa was not in the ward, Inna realized that she could not live without her.
"I asked for the address of the orphanage to which she was taken, and as soon as the opportunity arose, I immediately went there. I do not even remember how I got there, "Inna says.
Soon the woman submitted documents for the adoption of Lisa, and after some time the girl was allowed to live with Inna's family, in which she was surrounded with care and love.
Lisa did not develop as fast as other children, it was clear that the injuries received in infancy affected. But Inna was determined to do everything for the baby that is possible for her happy future.
Inna decided to give Lisa to dance lessons, hoping that the music will inspire her and help develop both physically and mentally. And it worked. Thanks to the dances, combined with the love and care of the adoptive mother, Liza turned into a healthy and happy child.
When the girl started going to school, no one could believe that this is the same child that his parents left to die in a dirty abandoned house.
However, there was another problem. Lisa was a black representative of the Roma population of Russia, so she had to face prejudice against appearance. At school, children constantly teased her, and on the street passers-by often stared at Lisa, as if by some strange thing.
Lisa tried not to pay attention to offensive words and unkind looks in her direction. "She is not ashamed of her appearance. When she was little, I told her: "People will always look at you - be ready for this," Inna says.
Inna always taught her daughter not to pay attention to rude and offensive words. To date, Lisa is a successful teenage girl who wins talent and beauty contests, and also works as a model.
