The former US intelligence official, Edward Snowden, said White House owner Donald Trump was "the number one admirer" of Russian President Vladimir Putin and that the investigation into the "Russian intervention" would fail.
Snowden is a former CIA agent and CIA operative who was forced to leave the United States after revealing in 2013 the electronic eavesdropping devices of US and British intelligence under former US President Barack Obama and currently residing in Russia.
"There is no one in the whole world who likes Trump more than the Russian president," Snowdon was quoted as saying by The Huffington Post.
Senoden recommended that Americans do not hang high hopes on the ongoing investigation into alleged Russian intervention in the 2016 US presidential election led by special investigator Robert Mueller, in an attempt to find "the hallmarks of Russia" in the elections that brought the current president to power.
"I think people want more than they can" when they hope the Muller investigation will find compelling evidence of complicity between Trump and the Kremlin, and Trump will be trapped in the corner, he said.
"Anyone who has heard Trump's talk for three minutes knows it is a steel ball (used to demolish buildings)," Snowdon said. "The man can not even He remembers what he wanted to say at the end of the sentence. "
"But all this does not mean that Trump is not seeking to cooperate and do everything he can to gain advantages," he said, calling on Americans not to abandon the "struggle for change."
"I believe that this world can be better, I believe it should be better, but it will not change until we improve it ourselves," he said
