2018 Emmy Nominations: Find How Much Black Star Power Received Recognition

MadameNoire

The start of award season has officially commenced, as the nominations for the 2018 Emmy Awards were announced earlier today. The Emmys are TV’s biggest night, so find out which shows that we love, that regularly showcase Black star power, were nominated for TV’s highest honor.

Traditionally, the Emmy Awards have been called out (much like the Oscars) for their lack of representation of actors of color. However, within the last few years they have made strides to recognize more Black actors, actresses, writers and projects — and the 2018 nominations prove their commitment.

From the ratings hit and critical darling Atlanta and crowd-pleasing family comedy Blackish to tear-jerking drama This Is Us and the hilariously funny Insecure, some of the best shows on TV prominently feature Black talent—and fortunately a lot of them were nominated for their great work this year. Airing Monday, September 17, the Emmys will be broadcast on NBC at 8PM. The complete list of nominees can be found here.
