Rihanna sent the power of Fenty over to SZA after she was reportedly racially profiled during a shopping trip to Sephora in April.
SZA shared her experience via social media writing that she was followed by a security guard in one of the beauty distributor’s Calabasas locations. She claimed employees insinuated she was shoplifting and contacted security to follow her around the store.
“Lmao Sandy Sephora location 614 Calabasas called security to make sure I wasn’t stealing,” SZA wrote on Twitter. “We had a long talk. U have a blessed day Sandy.”
“Can a b—h cop her fenty in peace er whut,” she added.
Sephora responded to SZA’s tweet writing, “You are a part of the Sephora family, and we are committed to ensuring every member of our community feels welcome and included at our stores.”
On Sunday SZA shared on her Instastories that Riri came through in the most magnificent way by sending her a gift card, which included a handwritten note. “Go buy yo Fenty beauty in peace sis, One love, Rihanna,” she wrote.
The Fenty mogul and the CTRL singer have a close bond after collaborating together on Rihanna’s 2016 album Anti.
Sephora formally responded to SZA’s incident with a statement of their own, saying they will investigate to ensure proper action can be made.
“We have been informed of an incident at our Calabasas store and in addition to reaching out to SZA directly, we are gathering more information about the incident in order to take the proper next steps,” the company said in a statement released to Business Insider.
“We take complaints like this very seriously, profiling on the basis of race is not tolerated at Sephora,” the statement continued. “Our purpose has always been rooted in our people and ensuring that Sephora is an inclusive and welcoming space for all our clients.”
Happy to see that even with the launch of her new Fenty luxury fashion line with LVMH, that Rihanna finds the time to support her good sis.
