Teacher Arrested For Fighting A Student Said She Had Been Assaulted Three Times That Year

I don’t think anybody is under the illusion that working with children of any age is easy. Human beings are difficult and human beings who are still developing can be particularly challenging. According to WJLA, Vivian Noirie, a 36-year-old public school teacher in Prince George’s County, was arrested after going viral for fighting with a high school student.

Noirie was arrested on November 15 and charged with physical child abuse and second-degree assault.

Police said a 17-year-old student approached Noirie at 10:25 a.m. The student was reportedly upset because Noirie called the student’s mother the night before. The student admitted to stepping on Noirie’s foot and bumping her with her shoulder. In response, Noirie repeatedly struck the student before authorities could separate the two.

Once they were separated, the student grabbed the teacher from behind and repeatedly struck her before they were pulled apart again.

The video was described as very disturbing.

Later, WJLA reported that Noirie was released from jail three days later and is currently awaiting trial.

A lawyer for Noirie says that she has been assaulted by students on three different occasions this semester.

This to me makes a difference. Of course, Noirie should have refrained from putting her hands on a student. At the end of the day, being a teacher means you’ll be tried by students, even physically. But knowing that she’s been tried on three different occasions, I completely understand why she decided to wyle out on this student. Furthermore, girls are physically fully grown at 17 years old. The fight wasn’t entirely unfair.

There are even people suggesting that the administration failed her by not protecting her from the students under her instruction.

President of Prince George’s County Education Association Theresa Mitchell Dudley spoke out in support of Noirie saying that she called for help but didn’t receive assistance until the actual fight broke out.

Beautiful face. Understand it was mad inappropriate but also them kids done worn her out to her breaking point.

The student was wrong but so was she it would’ve been different if she simply pushed her but she full on attacked the girl...students get in trouble for retaliation everyday so I think her consequences are appropriate.

we don’t know what happened prior to them recording that one part & judging that the girl was standing in her face already before she walked passed & bumped her they was most definitely going at it before the video started & it got to that point
