What a first month it was for Juwan Howard at Michigan.

Juwan Howard’s Michigan Wolverines (7-0) are finally ranked after four weeks of college basketball in a spot that nobody could have seen coming less than a week ago. After defeating two top-ten teams in the Bahamas and winning the Battle 4 Atlantis, the Wolverines have gone from unranked to No. 4 in the AP Poll released on Monday afternoon.

The team they play next, Louisville, is the new No. 1 team in the country.

Here’s what the top ten looks like, as well as where the other teams in the Big Ten rank:

  • Louisville (48 first place votes)
  • Kansas (3 first place votes)
  • Maryland
  • Michigan (9 first place votes)
  • Virginia (5 first place votes)
  • Ohio State
  • North Carolina
  • Kentucky
  • Gonzaga
  • Duke
  • Michigan State

With the Wolverines’ rise from unranked all the way to No. 4 in the country, they have matched the largest jump in the history of the AP Top 25 after Kansas did the same thing back in 1989.

Michigan’s game against No. 1 Louisville tips off at 7:30 p.m. from KFC Yum! Center on Tuesday night. The Big Ten/ACC Challenge showdown will be nationally broadcast via ESPN.

The other notable Big Ten/ACC Challenge games include No. 6 Ohio State vs. No. 7 North Carolina and No. 10 Duke vs. Michigan State.

What a week for these two conferences.
