A groom and his grandmother were killed when a homemade parcel bomb disguised as a wedding present exploded as they were opening it.
Soumya Sekhar Sahu, 25, and his bride Reema Sahu, were looking through their gifts five days after their lavish ceremony.
But they did not realise that one of the parcels was actually a 2kg homemade bomb which exploded when the couple opened it.
The blast tragically killed Mr Sahu and his 85-year-old grandmother.
Mrs Sahu was critically injured and is fighting for her life in hospital following the explosion, which cracked the walls in their home.
Police said the parcel was addressed to the groom, a software engineer, and his father.
Soumya's nephew Dipak Sahu said the unsigned parcel exploded as soon as it was unwrapped and added:
"The blast was so severe that it created ruptures in the wall."
Police officer Sheshdev Bariha said the parcel was a homemade bomb that was designed to explode on unwrapping.
He said: "The only clue we have so far is that it was sent from Raipur city.
"We have sent a team there for further investigation and are also examining CCTV footage."
The couple were married on February 18 and the explosion happened on Friday in in Orissa state, India.
The blast comes less than a month after Dr Ritesh Dixit, 25, was killed on his engagement day after a bomb hidden in a radio exploded at his home in Madhya Pradesh.
