Hiv stand for human immuno-defiency virus which mean the virus is only intrested in your immune system According the existing knowledge of Hiv with reference to Wikipedia.com
Hiv has been a virus that has affect million of people and it easily spread through sexual intercourse and contact with infected blood. Over the decades and presently a cure to Hiv has not been found, only treatment to manage the virus are available. What seem so trivia to the scientist is why the hiv never completely leave the infected system. But the virus can be prevented.
I am always amazed when i hear people confidently say there can never be a cure to Hiv, This have led me to research about the potential way inwhich we can actually cure this virus.
Before we discuss the potential way we can cure hiv, let discuss about how the human cell works and how hiv works
The human is a multi-cellular organism which mean we have different cell for different body activities and to keep us growing our cell have to constantly divide itself, inside the cell are lot of tiny system that facilitate the reproduction of the cell, what we are intrested about the cell is the Nucleus which is like the control room that tells the cell how and when to multiply, because we are multi-cellular organism, we have different group of cells such as bone cell, red blood cell, white blood cell, skin cell etc, all group of cells coming together to make a system Now let talk about the virus. Hiv is a unicellular organism, it cannot reproduce on it own except it use other cells to reproduce. Just like every cell want to reproduce, Hiv cell also want to reproduce but the cell which the hiv is really intrested in is the white blood cell in the human but specifically the CD4 + in the white blood cell. The white blood cell is responsible for our overall protection as an organism, Any attack on the white blood cell is an attack on the whole system
Stages Of How The Virus Infect And Reproduce In The Human System
Stages
1. Binding and fusion
First, the HIV virus attaches itself to a T-helper cell and releases HIV into the cell.
Drugs that can stop this part of the process are called fusion or entry inhibitors.
2. Conversion and integration Once inside the cell, HIV changes its genetic material from RNA to DNA so it can enter the nucleus of the cell and take control of it.Drugs that can stop this part of the process are called NRTIs (nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors), NNRTIs (non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors) and integraseinhibitors.
3. Replication
The cell then produces more HIV proteins that can be used to produce more HIV.
4. Assembly, budding and
maturation
New HIV particles are then released from the T-helper cell into the bloodstream. These are now ready to infect other cells and begin the process all over again.Drugs that can stop the process of assembly are called protease inhibitors.
Antiretroviral treatment(or ART for short) uses a number of different HIV medicines to treat HIV infection. By combining different drugs that target different steps in the HIV life cycle. Information extracted from www.avert.org
With these information, i research further and i concluded that we only have drug to stop the reproduction of hiv from infecting new cell but not killing already infected cell. When we break these down, then we can arrive at the potential cure of the virus.
Let analyse this further. When hiv enters the human system.it locate the Cd4 + Cell and transfer it particles into the cell, When the particle get to the cell, it will change their RNA to DNA so as to enter into the nucleus which is the control room of the cell. Once the virus enters the Nucleus, That particular cell has been hijacked by the virus. So what the virus will do is to make more copy of it virus because it has gain access into the control room of the cell. So let us assumed a recently infected person, let us equate the healthy white blood cell to 100%, so when the virus just enters the body system of the human, it keep reproducing then the 100% Healthy cell keep reducing , When the healthy White blood cell reduce to 50% the body started showing sign of sickness as the immune battles with the virus. In this we can express this as 50 % of White blood cell hijacked and under the control of the virus and 50% healthy. When the % of the hijacked cell totally overcome the healthy one, then it progress to Aids. So what the scientist did is to create a drug that will not let the virus hijack and control new cell but the drugs are not killing the virus in cells that are already hijacked. This is why Hiv patient are told to live healthy lifestyle so that the unaffected cells can divide faster while the hijacked cell are not allow to reproduce. making the patient healthy as long as the take their drugs daily
There are just 2 potential Method hiv can be cured
Method 1
A drug should be produced which will identify the virus in the Nuclues of the hijacked cell and kill it. To achieve this, the hijacked cell should be cultured and experiment with, to be able produce a drug that will target the virus hiding in the Nucleus without damaging the Nucleus.
Limitation of method 1: What if the virus is so connected to nucleus that any damage to it will cause damage to the Nucleus of the cell, causing the cell to die .
Method 2.
If Method 1 fail then method 2 should be employ. This method is a bit complicated but very effective. The formular is K - H - R what K means is to kill a certain percentage of hijacked cell from reproducing by killing the cell permanently, we will have to produce a drug that can detect hiv in cell and totally kills the cell with the hiv
The H stand for Hold, what it means is that while certain percentage of hijack cell is killed, , The remaining hijacked cell should be restrain from infecting New cell with the use of ART drug. While the R means the healthy unaffected cell should reproduce well by living a good lifestyle and eating well. Let have a little calculation, Let assume we have 50%hijacked and 50 %unhijacked. we will kill 10% of hijacked cell , remaining 40% hijacked cell then we will keep the 40% from infecting new cell by using ART till the next time we will kill another 10% hijacked cell. Then we will live a healthy lifestyle and the 50% unaffected cells will reproduce and compensate the death of the 10% hijacked cell. For this method to work we must be good with our calculation. This will involve alot of process and hard work but once we perfect this method, Hiv will be an history.
