Although the man is a comedian, he showed his very sincere and serious side as she spoke to the students. On Sunday, Jimmy Fallon surprised many when he showed up at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FLA. to make a commence speech to the graduating class!

As you probably already know, the Parkland students have gone through a lot due to the fact that there was a school shooting this year that killed no less than 17 people.

The perpetrator was a fellow student named Nikolas Cruz.

That being said, it totally makes sense that Fallon would choose to deliver such a heartfelt message.

‘Thank you for your courage and your bravery,’ Jimmy said, addressing the teens who took the initiative to start the March for Our Lives back in March.

But even though it was a serious speech, Jimmy knew how to insert some light jokes for the seniors as well.

‘You won’t be classmates anymore. You’ll be adults who Facebook search each other at 2 in the morning for the next 10 years,’ he said.

Jimmy also took to his social media to tweet about the graduation, saying: ‘Congratulations Marjory Stoneman Douglas Class of 2018! You aren’t just the future – you are the present. Keep changing the world. Keep making us proud. #MSDStrong #YouAreThePresent.’

Meanwhile, the parents of four of the kids who were supposed to graduate but were murdered in the school shooting (Carmen Schentrup, Nicholas Dworet, Meadow Pollack and Joaquin Oliver) accepted diplomas in their late children’s names.

To show that they haven’t forgotten the tragedy, all the graduates wore sashes that read: ‘MSD Strong.’
