The next game for the Edwardsville Bears will be in the Fifth Division tournament.

The top-seeded Bears (31-7) were supposed to play Highland today at Hoppe Park in the championship game of the District 22 tournament, needing one win in two games to clinch the district title.

But Highland, which beat Freeburg/Smithton 3-2 on Friday night, elected not to play today because it has an automatic berth in next week’s Fifth Division tournament as the host team. The Bears, meanwhile, advance as district champions.

The Bears will open action in the Fifth Division at noon on Monday against the No. 2 team from District 25. Highland (14-11) will face the District 24 champion at 7 p.m. Monday.

The seven-team, double-elimination tournament continues through Friday.
