Doctors Tell Randy Travis’ Wife to Pull the Plug, so She Starts to Pray

Nothing breaks a family’s heart more than hearing Doctors advise them to pull the plug on a loved one. It is never a palatable feeling but in the face of hopelessness and when everything looks bleak it is the option most families with a member struggling to stay alive have to face at some points it things don’t get better no matter how painful it might be.

That was the difficult choice, Randy Travis’ wife was faced with when he suffered severe cardiomyopathy and went into a coma. Randy Travis is many people’s favorite artists but the famous country singer has been battling with serious health issues over the past few years that have threatened to take his life on so many occasions.

After suffering cardiomyopathy and falling into a coma, Randy was confined to the hospital bed and as days turned into weeks and his condition deteriorated even further, doctors had no choice but to advice his wife and family members to pull a plug on the already dying man to avoid wasting money on the inevitable.

But Mary, Travis’ wife was convinced that God could heal him and she looked forward to a miracle despite the fact that his conditions didn’t look anything close to hopeful. She refused Doctors advice to pull the plug on her husband but chose to do something doctors found quite shocking. She revealed in a recent emotion interview all she gave recently; the many ordeals she went through during her husband’s sickness. “Life was minute to minute. They said ‘pull the plug, there’s no hope,” Mary said.

Giving his unstable conditions, it was a fair and normal advice for doctors to give as there was very little chance that he would survive and even if he did, it will come at a very high cost with a lot of potential damages to his health.

But Mary believed that there was still hope, and she was willing to hold onto any hope of her husband coming out of Coma no matter how unlikely it was. She said during the interview: “At this point, the one to two-percent chance is [a] 100-percent chance over zero. I prayed hard, ‘God, please let me have him back, any way, shape or form,’” Mary said.

At this point Mary had little or no physical hope that things would get better and she could only turn to the supernatural for help. it didn’t look like thing would get better, but slowly and with time, Randy came out of the coma and began to regain his strength gradually.

But not without some side effects. Due to the long coma and stroke, Randy Travis had lost the ability to talk, walk and was unable to do some basic day to day tasks. But his ever loving wide and his family were by his side all through the four years of rehabilitation he had to go through and he is gradually recuperating with the family celebrating every single milestone in his recovery process.

Mary said they have stayed positive and hopeful all through the years. According to her: “I think our goal for five years is to remain hopeful and keep our heads up high and not throw in the towel and be happy with wherever God has us. If it’s back up on that stage singing, hallelujah,”
