A vegetation fire that broke out Thursday afternoon blocked the road connecting northern Napa County to Yolo County, authorities said.
Cal Fire said the Winters Fire was reported at 12:41 p.m. off Highway 128 near Pleasant View Road, 3 miles southwest of Winters.
The fire, which spread to 80 acres, was 10 percent contained by 3:30 p.m., according to a Cal Fire press release. Firefighters at the scene faced a grassy oak woodland area with challenging steep terrains and difficult access.
No structures are believed to be threatened, and the cause is not yet known, said Suzie Blankenship, a spokeswoman at the fire agency’s St. Helena station.

In response, the California Highway Patrol began closing Highway 128 near the fire site. Roadblocks forced drivers to turn back at the Markley Cove Resort in the west and at the Pleasants Valley Road intersection in the east, according to CHP Sgt. William Bradshaw in Napa.
The Sheriff's Office said late Thursday afternoon that it could be sometime Friday before the road reopens.
