JOLIET – A Joliet man was arrested after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and caused her to be hospitalized, police said.
On Tuesday, Joliet police were called to the emergency room at Silver Cross Hospital to meet with a 23-year-old woman who alleged she was beaten by her boyfriend, Benny J. Grieco, 22, of the 1100 block of Parkwood Drive in Joliet.
he woman said Grieco allegedly confronted her over a post she made on social media, then took away her phone and broke it, said Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory. Grieco then allegedly hit her in the face multiple times with an open hand.
On Wednesday, Grieco allegedly continued to beat his girlfriend and at one point choked her with his forearm around her throat, Gregory said.
Officers saw the woman had multiple physical injuries on her body at Silver Cross Hospital, Gregory said.
Grieco was arrested in the 1800 block of Field Court and charged with aggravated domestic battery.
Grieco was booked into Will County jail. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
