Long Valley resident gets seven year prison sentence for sexually assaulting minor

New Jersey Hills

WASHINGTON TWP. - Christopher Remaly, a Long Valley resident and former youth group leader for a church in Pennsylvania, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2014.

Remaly was 27 at the time he allegedly abused the underage female at his Long Valley home. The victim met Remaly through a Pennsylvania church.

The sentencing was imposed by Superior Court Judge Thomas Critchley Jr. in Morristown.

Remaly is married and has two small daughters of his own. He pleaded guilty in November to one count of sexual assault. Morris County Prosecutor Meg Rodriguez recommended that he be sentenced to seven years in prison, with no minimum period of parole ineligibility. Upon release, Remaly will be supervised on parole for at least 15 years and must register with police in his hometown as a convicted sex offender under Megan's Law.
