With genomics moving to routine NHS care, a number of exciting opportunities have arisen at all levels to work within the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory. Our expanded workforce will help create a world class genomics laboratory service, providing state of the art genomic analysis for NHS patients with a rare disease or cancer.
The West Midland Regional Genetics Laboratory (WMRGL), based at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, is the designated Genomics Laboratory Hub (WWMGLH) for the Wessex, Oxford and West Midlands Genomics Consortium (WOWMGC) serving 11 million people across the region.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a background or interest in genomics, and its transformative potential to provide personalised medicine to patients with cancer or a rare disease. Registered Clinical Scientists
- Analysis and reporting of genomic diagnostic investigations.
- Managing and developing areas of new and existing service work.
- Working directly with clinicians to provide complex genomic results to improve patient care.
Healthcare Scientist Graduate Trainee (pre-registration)
- Supervised development towards registration as a Clinical Scientist following the equivalence route with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS).
Genetic Technologists and Senior Genetic Technologists
- Opportunities exist for registered Genetic Technologists and for those looking to become registered with AHCS
- Opportunities also exist for those with experience who are looking to progress into management or specialist roles such as training; quality; automation, service development and innovation.
Healthcare Science Assistants and Healthcare Science Associates
