Role / Description
The Microbiology Analytical Services (MAS) team comprises of a team of 10 microbiological testers who test food samples for pathogenic (food poisoning) or food spoilage microorganisms within food, environmental or other samples using PCR and other DNA based techniques.
You will be carrying out analysis of foodstuffs through microbiological testing including PCR and DNA based methods as well as administrative tasks relating to analytical work e.g. sample receipt and booking in of samples into LIMS
Opportunities to perform confirmations when appropriate and work in a CL3 laboratory
Requirements
* 1-2 A- Levels in a scientific subject ( or equivalent)
* Previous laboratory work experience
* Knowledge of relevant microbiological techniques
* Ability to work accurately within a specific time frame
* Ability to work in a small team
* Ability to produce and maintain clear records and documentation
* Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays (currently 1 in 4)
* Must have own form of transport
